What is Nepali Who Is Who ??

In the current circumstances where the whole world has transformed into a global village due to the development of modern technology, it is natural for Nepali to migrate abroad looking for opportunities, probably, due to scarcity of jobs and resources in their homeland. The migration trend has been ever-increasing since the 1990s and has never been minimized. Today, Nepali have migrated not only to prosperous countries like Europe, America, Australia, and Japan but also to other developing countries like Gulf countries, Malaysia, Africa, and other Asian countries.

One of the most powerful messages of the Nepali diaspora is that the Nepali are capable of writing their progress and success stories in various professional fields and businesses with their honesty, hard work, and dedication no matter in what corners of the world they are in. They are not only an inspiration to the Nepali community but also role models for the people in the countries they migrate to. They have succeeded in giving a message that success is possible no matter what the circumstances are. The Nepali have gained appealing success in business, science or technology, and other social fields. Considering this fact, it’s hard to tell that the Nepali immigrated there just for the first generation.

Although everyone is not on the same page about who was the first Nepali visitor to the USA and when history tells that it was not before the early 1930s. Since then, quite a big number of the Nepalese population has migrated to America. With the initial count by NRNA NCC USA, it is estimated that almost 200,000 Nepali people are living in the USA currently, and there could be many more. This is a significant number in itself. The Nepali are present virtually in all the states of the USA. It is pleasant that in this ocean of opportunities, the Nepalese population is not only in quantities but also in impressive qualities. It won’t be an exaggeration that the Nepali have firmly rooted themselves in every dimension of American life. It is a pleasure and a source of inspiration to us all that mark the success of Nepali Americans in the field of academics, science, engineering, technology, social service, business, arts, literature, sports and music, and more.

This publication is initiated to collect, manage and provide information on the skills and knowledge that have been earned and learned by our fellow Nepali Americans in America. And this publication wishes to conserve and disseminate their invaluable achievements and success and hand them over to the current and new generations to inspire them, who hopefully would promote Nepali arts and culture in mainstream American society, fully utilizing these abundant resources. We have attempted to incorporate remarkable contributions and success stories treasured by individuals in various fields in America by Nepali Americans.

This publication expects each Nepali to be benefitted by exchanging resources and expertise in Nepali American society. We trust that this collection which will be available both online and in book versions, will be handy not only to the Nepali community but also to research scholars, students, government or non-governmental corporations, and other social fields or anybody who wants to know about Nepali Americans and their achievements.
